Next to it, the oak takes pride of place. Raw, majestic: "You feel it when you work it. But oak is demanding. You can't marry it with just anything". And in its smoked version, it takes on a particularly attractive coffee colour...
2000 years on your face! Grey or black, morta is a witness to history. A wood in the process of fossilization, it comes from forests submerged in water for hundreds of years. Rare and precious, it is sometimes as tannic as certain wines... truly unique!
"Aesthetically, it's one of the most beautiful woods" : the tiny black lines formed naturally by a fungus give white ebony a superb look all its own. And it requires meticulous craftsmanship when it comes to choosing the finishes and harmonizing each arm.
"I don't yet know where it will take me, but I really enjoy working with this noble wood. You can feel its history, and I love its place of origin". The wood isolive. A natural grain, power. And perfect smoothness, as soon as it's crafted.
Wild and rich in wood grain, Vavona burl gives off a peppery scent that is very fragrant when sanding.
Iroko, maple, mahogany and fraké are other alternatives, unexplored or less cherished: "And there are plenty of others that I'd like to work on, but I haven't had the time yet".
